How should I use the guest logins?
Guest logins allow you to access online resources at participating AskAway institutions, so that you can help patrons with the resources available at their home library. Please do not share guest login information.
How to use the guest logins:
- You only need to use them to access password-protected resources.
- For example, if you're accessing library webpages or content that is openly available at the library, you do not need to use a guest login.
- At most institutions, you will enter the user ID and password when you are prompted by the library's authentication system to sign-in (e.g., when you connected to a database). The guest logins are not designed to work if you proactively sign-in to the library website or a "My account" page.
- As an exception, some institutions that use OpenAthens require you to proactively sign-in using a link that is provided in the library's Notes field.
- For the best results, copy and paste the password without any extra space before or after the password.
- Extra spaces can cause the password to fail.
- If copying and pasting doesn't work, try typing the password.
Note on OpenAthens
Logging in via OpenAthens at multiple institutions can present difficulties. For workarounds and more information, see the FAQ How can I login to OpenAthens at multiple institutions?
