If I'm staffing only my library's institutional queue, how should I communicate in the Conference Room?
Previously, with Campfire, service providers who were staffing only their institutional queue (IQ) were asked not to login to Campfire.
Now, all service providers who are signed into LibraryH3lp will be available in the conference room.
If you are a service provider staffing your IQ:
- When you sign on for your shift, send a quick message in the conference room to let others know that you are staffing your IQ and when. For example:
- "Hi, I'm staffing my IQ today 11am-1pm."
- Please don't use the conference room to communicate with other service providers at your institution about chats on your institutional queue, as this can cause confusion for those staffing AskAway.
- If you are the last person staffing your institutional queue for the day, aim to wrap-up all chats on your queue before signing off. To wrap-up any ongoing chats but not receive any new ones, set your status to "Busy." See this FAQ What status should I use on my shifts? for more information. If you do have a chat in progress that you need to transfer at the end of your shift, please ask if someone on AskAway is able to take the transfer.
If you are a service provider staffing AskAway:
- When you sign on for your shift, scan the messages in the conference room to see who is staffing their IQ. Use the Current Chats and the Collaborative Schedule to see who is staffing the service during your shift.
If you run into any issues or have questions, please contact the AskAway Admin Centre.
